Venter set for double duties at Bathurst 12hr
After a second place finish at the 2012 Bathurst 12 Hour in the Formula Ford support category where he also became the youngest ever driver to compete at the world renowned track, Sydney’s Jonathan Venter is set to take a step up this year, with an entry into the main event while also seeking an outright in the World’s Premier Junior Development category.
With a strong result from last year’s event, Venter is confident heading back to the mountain. His successes from the Bathurst event were transferred to the nation’s premier State Formula Ford Championship in Victoria, taking victory in the series, while also being crowned as the inaugural Chairman’s Cup winner for the Australian Formula Ford Championship.
“It was an excellent accomplishment to win the State Championship, and I’m now focussed on further National success in my career, I’m really excited for the upcoming race at Bathurst; it will be the third time I take to the mountain in a Formula Ford,” said Venter.
The 12 Hour event will see Jonathan make his debut in a production car, and his first ever endurance event, competing with the GWS Personnel team in a BMW 130i running under the guidance of motorsport veteran and Team Manager, Garry Mennell.
“I am very eager to learn a lot in the 12 hour event with the GWS team and most importantly to get more laps around Bathurst, it will also be a good indicator of what it takes to drive for long periods both mentally and physically. It is good to see the size of the field increasing compared to last year in all classes, with more cars on track it will require me to stay on top of my game throughout the whole event,” Venter concluded.
The 2013 Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour will take place at Mount Panorama, Bathurst, NSW on February 8 – 10.
