Venter prepares for second round of Sandown success
Following a brilliant start to his opening campaign in Formula Ford, backed up by a stellar performance in recent testing that saw him lap amongst the quickest drivers across three days, Jono Venter is now preparing to take to the track at Sandown for Round 3 of the Victorian Formula Ford Championship this weekend.
Since the last round of the championship, also held at Sandown, that saw some of the most chaotic racing seen in the category, Venter has seized the opportunity of test days at both Phillip Island and Winton Motor Raceway, and succeeded greatly.
Jono said looking ahead to this weekend, “going into this round I am a lot more confident than what I was before the rounds earlier this year. Now having done a race there before, it takes that nervousness of a debut away.”
In continuing his preparation for the event, Jono will be faced with competing against national series Formula Ford drivers looking to get track experience ahead of the National round at Sandown in September. This opportunity will ensure Venter is as well prepared for his National debut as possible.
Venter stated, “since learning from some mistakes at my last round, I have taken onboard the lessons I learnt and look forward to striving for some more strong results,” further adding, “I enjoy the track and it makes for some good racing so I am definitely looking forward to this weekend and the challenges it will bring.”
Round 3 of the Victorian Formula Ford Championship will take place at Sandown International Raceway this weekend, 22-24 July. Jono will contest 3 races across the event.
