Venter gaining momentum at Phillip Island
Jonathan Venter has today continued to make improvements in both car setup and track position in his debut meeting as part of the Australian Formula Ford Championship at Phillip Island.
After managing to improve the car speed following qualifying yesterday, and placing his Mygale on 16th, Jonathan battled with fellow teenagers Jon Collins and Callum Mitchell fighting for prime track space with a good dice entering the ultra fast turn 1. Venter then managed to fend off the encounter to claim 15th by the end after running as high as 13th before a fuel surge forced the 15 year old back two positions by the end.
With another 10 lap journey ahead of him, Jonathan had to remain composed to put in yet another strong performance. A renewed Venter then regained his composure to push through with his forceful determination to claim 12th after another strong battle with the AMSF Rising Star car of Collins.
“I felt a lot more confident today having had a chance to get used to the pressure of the National Championship, we are happy with the car and are hopeful of a strong result in race 3,” Venter concluded.
