Venter confident with National debut approaching

Sydney based teenager Jonathan Venter will this weekend enter his first ever round of the Australian Formula Ford Championship, as the series heads to the famous Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit as a support to the annual L&H 500 for the V8 Supercars at the start of their season of endurance.

After an already successful season to date competing in the Victorian Formula Ford Championship, 15 year old Venter will also hit the track as the youngest in the category for the weekend. Jonathan said looking ahead to the weekend, “With only a few days left before the national round at Phillip Island I am getting increasingly excited but also preparing myself for my first national race,” further adding, “I am looking forward to improve my experience in Formula Ford and learn new things from other, more experienced drivers.”

Having competed on the illustrious Phillip Island circuit already in his short circuit racing career, in addition to a recent successful test day, Jonathan is pleased to have some experience behind him heading into the weekend. Venter stated,  “Phillip Island is a familiar track to me which takes out one less factor to overcome on the weekend,” further saying, “I am also looking forward to the atmosphere created by the large crowds, which will be there to watch the V8 Supercars, but at the same time, it will be another element to get used to over the course of the weekend.”

Following in the steps of other junior drivers this year, along with working under the immense experience of his Anglo Motorsport team, in particular Tim Beale (Team Principal/Engineer), Jonathan is hopeful of a strong first up result. “I am hoping to achieve a top 10 finish as this would be a sensible target for my first national race though I am always determined to hunt down the leaders on every occasion,” Venter added.

The Australian Formula Ford Championship is on track for practice and qualifying on Friday, with race 1 and 2 on Saturday and race 3 on Sunday prior to the L&H 500 for the V8 Supercars
