A podium effort for Venter at the Island

After having the opportunity to speak on-air via the commentary system this morning at the Island, and be interviewed, it motivated Jono, 15, to put in a strong effort ahead over the two race journey he had in the day. A strong opening effort on Day 1 saw Venter finish 5th, the first race of the final day occurred and saw Jono not only finish on the podium, but added a fastest lap of the race to his 3rd position of 1:39.1300.
“I was truly ecstatic, not only with the podium, but to get the quickest lap, it proved our setup was great, and the conditions suited my driving style,” said Venter.
For the second event of the day, Jono managed to avoid late race carnage ahead of him, and propelled himself from 6th to 3rd on the final lap. Venter said following the event, “our car speed was excellent yet again, I was really happy to avoid the issues ahead of me, stay focussed, and maintain with yet another strong finish,” “My thanks must go to Anglo Motorsport for preparing a great car.” These results also saw Jono clinch equal 2nd on points for the weekend with Jordan Lloyd, making it an overall success for the youngster.
Jono is also yet to achieve any sponsorship, and the results this weekend are definitely positive for a potential future investment. The next round of the Victorian Formula Ford Championship will occur on May 14-15 at Sandown International Raceway.
